Mr. Whorton is a senior level energy and financial professional with over forty years of extensive experience spanning all segments of the corporate value chain from both the physical and financial perspective. This experience and his leadership positions with six Fortune 500 companies has provided him with the opportunity of working with many of the world’s leading energy, mining, utility, transportation and telecom companies at the executive and board level. He has extensive experience in natural resource development, financial and enterprise risk management and, global management consulting for due diligence and Mergers/A&D strategy. Mr. Whorton has served as an officer and director of a number of new ventures for both public and private companies.

Mr. Whorton was a member of the National Energy Consulting Practices at Andersen, PA Consulting Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers and SunGard where he was recognized as an international Subject Matter Expert (SME) on strategy, operations, M&A, trading and risk management. The scope and diversity of his experience allows him to offer multiple perspectives for value creation and companies’ strategic success in increasingly competitive and volatile environments.

Mr. Whorton is a registered Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) with the NFA and has held all major trading and principal licenses with FINRA and CFTC. He managed institutional energy trading desks at Prudential Securities and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and has worked closely with global commodity exchanges as key energy futures, options and derivative contracts, such as natural gas and power, have evolved into price risk management benchmarks. Mr. Whorton has provided strategic insight and market commentary for many of the leading business and financial news and wire services such as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Reuters and Bloomberg.

Mr. Whorton is a frequently featured speaker on energy and financial topics having made presentations to over one hundred fifty conference forums in North America and has been a guest lecturer at twelve North American universities. As a nationally recognized award winning author, Mr. Whorton co-authored a book, Power Play – Who’s in Control of the Energy Revolution?, and has contributed over forty articles and papers for industry publications. Having a ranching and Cherokee heritage, Mr. Whorton is a strong advocate for rural and Native American initiatives.
