Dr. Sheila Davis

GlobalMindED
Director of Research
My desire to reduce health disparities has framed my professional career. After I completed a pediatric internship, I served on the writing team for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Healthy People 1998 Progress Review for African Americans where I studied health outcomes data for marginalized populations in the United States. During my undergraduate years as a chemical engineering student at MIT, I met Dr. Shirley McBay who was Dean of Student Affairs at the time. She left MIT to launch a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating the achievement gap in STEM fields for students of color. I served as a teaching fellow for her organization where I worked with minority-serving institutions. I recently stepped down from the position of Acting Director of the University of Denver’s (DU) Healthcare Leadership Program, a Master’s Degree Program in the DU School of Professional and Continuing Studies.
